Having ridden from a young age, I had already obtained my BHS Stages I and II by 1999, but it was a visit to a TTT Gala Day that really sparked my interest in Dressage.

The next Summer, having completed my A levels, I seized an opportunity to take a year long position as Working Pupil at East Whipley Farm, home of the TTT.

During that year through a combination of lessons with Alex Cookson on various horses, from just backed to schoolmasters and watching many hours of TTT Clinics, Lecture Demonstrations and Seminars, I gained knowledge, my riding developed, and I passed my BHSAI Examination.

At the end of my working pupil year, I achieved a long held ambition and rode on a Clinic with Charles de Kunffy. Not only did I enjoy riding but I also discovered a real passion for Teaching; I was well and truly bitten by the Dressage bug!

I went to work in Vienna, Austria through Contacts at the TTT and was fortunate enough to continue my training with Julia Coppard an International Dressage Rider and a Senior Instructor at the TTT and it was there that I first had the opportunity to ride Grand Prix movements.

When I returned to the UK I was again able to secure a position at East Whipley Farm, this time as a Trainee and eventually worked my way up to be Yard Manager all the while continuing my training with Alex Cookson as well as all the TTT international Trainers.

           • Stephen Clarke , FEI Olympic Dressage Judge

           • Arthur Kottas , former Chief Rider of the Spanish Riding School, Vienna

           • Charles De Kunffy , FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale) Judge and Author

           • Herwig Radnetter , Senior Rider at the Spanish Riding School, Vienna

I became Freelance in 2006 but still continue to train regularly at the TTT and attend many Lectures, Seminars and Training Days. I have competed up to Prix St George level and I have many pupils who compete from Pony Club Eventing and Dressage to BE (British Eventing) 2* and BD (British Dressage) Medium Level. I have recently been accepted as one of 300 BD Trainers.

I have been involved with Horses since aged 5 when I fell in love with the Milkman’s Pony, spending every school holiday and weekend on a family friend’s farm near the New Forest, taking part in all Pony Club Activities as well as Hunting and Breeding, then later working in Livery Yards in exchange for Training and Competition Rides.

Following a 3 year Course in Rural Sciences and Agricultural Biology I studied at Robert Hall’s Fulmer School of Equitation, went on to become Head Girl at various Yards and also travelled abroad in sole charge of International Show Jumpers. It was during this time that I obtained my Pony Club ‘A’ Test and BHSAI Qualifications.

Whilst Yard Manager / Chief Instructor at several Yards working closely with Clients and their Horses I also bought my own unbroken youngsters, trained and competed them; together we had many successes, including Working Hunters to Wembley Qualification, Eventing to 3 Day, Show-Jumping to Grade B and both Combined Training and Dressage to National Championship Qualifications.

In 1998 I started attending Lectures, Demonstrations and Clinics at the TTT, becoming Yard Manager of East Whipley Farm --- home of the TTT --- in 2004.

Tania and I have worked and trained Horses together for many years; my own current Horse, Piknik, was Novice Champion at Hickstead in 2008, qualified for the BD Summer Regionals at Novice in 2008 and 2009, the Winter National Elementary in 2009 and Summer Regionals Elementary in 2010 and is currently working at Medium / Advanced Medium Level.

Amongst other things I have trained the Royal Parks Police Offices and their Horses, coached Actors for TV and Film Roles, been a Side-Saddle Film Double and thoroughly enjoyed teaching at Pony Club.

Like Tania, I continue to train at the TTT with Stephen Clarke, Arthur Kottas, Charles De Kunffy and Herwig Radnetter.
