21-Feb-10
We have just returned from a successful trip to the
Addington Manor
Winter Regionals. (They really were Winter;
we had snow falling two out of three days!). I did three classes and was placed in every one! The B.F.G. III
(Toby) was 10th in the Advanced Medium freestyle with a score of 65.22%, this is a very difficult class as there
is no Restricted Section. He then came 3rd in in the Advanced Medium Restricted with a score of 66.31% and has
qualified for the National Winter Championships at this level. He was a little tight and tense the first day but
gave me a lovely ride the second day and I am so thrilled to have qualified for the finals!!

Tina Grantham's PikNik (Knickers) and I did the Elementary Open at
Addington Manor
. This was a huge class with some really
good horses in it. In the end it came down to points of percents separating the top 10. Knickers and I
finished 7th with a score of 68.21%. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Wildcard as we have not directly
qualified. This is the first time Knickers has stayed away at a Competition and competed in such a big
atmosphere. She was a bit stressed and refused to eat hard feed most of the time we were there so the test
was a little under powered but under the circumstances I am so pleased with the way she went!
As I said a very successful trip!

Exciting news! A couple of weeks ago Clive petty, The B.F.G. III's (Toby's) former owner told me that he
needed to sell him. Initially I was devastated as I have put a lot of time, effort and hard work into Toby.
Brilliantly, a very kind friend and Supporter has bought Toby for me so I can continue to ride, train and
compete him! As I said very Exciting!!!

17-Jan-10
Along with most of the country we were inundated with snow; not
ideal for Dressage! Luckily we have a blade that attaches to the Tracker and a
skillfull Driver (my boyfriend James) so we were at least able to clear a path in the
arena. The other horses at the yard are youngsters and a brood mare, who are all
unshod, so they have been turned out but Toby, with his Eggbar shoes, would
just have got the snow balling up. Also he is a clumsy horse at the best of times let
alone in 9" of slippery snow! Oh well, lots of walking ahead for us. |

28-Dec-09
For the last two weeks I have had a write up in the Regional Competition reports in the
Horse & Hound
In the 17th Dec issue it was about Clive Petty's The
B.F.G.III (Toby) and his recent Advanced Medium win at Patchetts Equestrian
Centre.
In the 24th Dec issue it was about Pippa Lewis's Herbert’s Sweet William
(Herbie) and his recent Novice win at Pachesham Equestrian Centre. Toby and
I have been in Horse and Hound several times before but this is the first time
Herbie has got in and at his first ever Affiliated Dressage Competition, what a
Christmas present!!

Yesterday Clive Petty's The B.F.G.III (Toby) and I were competing at Patchetts Equestrian Centre. It was Toby first outing for a month and with the cold weather and a new clip he was very fresh! Despite spooking, squealing and trying to gallop off in both the Medium and Extended Canters he still managed to win the Advanced Medium qualifier with over 65%. We were also 4th overall in the mixed A100/PSG class and 2nd of the PSG horses.

06-Dec-09 We had a very successful morning competing at
Pachesham Equestrian Centre
today. I rode Pippa Lewis's Herbert's Sweet William (Herbie) in his first ever Affiliated
Dressage Competition. He competed in the Open Section of Novice 22 and won the
class outright, scoring 69.31%. a full 2% clear of the next competitor!
Also many congratulations to my Client Clare Leggat who, riding her own T's
Saphire (Saf), won the Elementary Qualifier scoring over 65%. This means both
horses are part qualified for the 2010 Summer Regionals!!

25-Oct-09
Recently Clive Petty's The B.F.G.III (Toby) and I have started competing at Prix
St-George level. So far we have done 6 tests and yesterday had our 1st win at
this level at Merrist Wood scoring 65.79%, a full % clear of 2nd place. I am so
chuffed with the win and mark. PSG is a real step up from advanced medium and
this is the 1st time Toby or I have competed at this level. I had the most
fabulous ride yesterday he felt so powerful yet supple at the same time. The
judge wrote "Some really pleasing elastic trot and canter work shown". We still
had some mistakes but to score over 65% with plenty of room for improvement is a
real confidence booster!

10-Oct-09 Yesterday at the Step by Step Area Festival held at Royal Leisure
Centre I competed both Tina Grantham's PikNik (Knickers) and Clive Pettys The
B.F.G.III (Toby). Knickers was contesting the Elementry open and Toby the Prix
St-George. Both Horses came 6th in their classes. I was very pleased with both.
Knickers had a horribly early start (fed breakfast at 4.30am!) but was very well
behaved in gale force winds. Toby also coped well with not only wind but rain as
well!! Ahh, competing in the winter in England, how glamorous!

on 3rd and 4th Sep at the Land Rover
Burghley Horse Trials
I was the
Horse & Hound
's official Online Dressage Expert. Along with the H&H's Eventing Editor, Pippa
Roome, we provided a live text commentary on the Dressage as it
happened as well as answering questions.
We have now just finished our two days of live text Dressage commenting and have received lots of favourable feedback. You can

Clive Petty's the B.F.G.III (Toby) and I just missed out on a Wildcard
Entry for
the Nationals. We seemed to have picked the hardest class as it is only the top
10 starters at the Nationals! Oh well, roll on the Winter Regionals. |

01-Aug-09
College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe
Summer Regionals. Clive Petty's The B.F.G.III (Toby) and I were 3rd in the
Martin Collins Advanced Medium Restricted Summer Regional. Only the 1st placed
Competitor gained direct qualification to the National Championships so I now
have to wait and see if Toby and I get a Wildcard. Fingers crossed! |

30-Jul-09 Royal Leisure Equestrian Center, Henfield Tina Grantham's PikNik
(Knickers) and I have qualified for the Winter Regionals at Elementry Open. We
did both Elementries at Royal Leisure, posting scores of 69.31% and 70%, winning
both classes by over 2%! Mum and I are both so thrilled with Knickers, in just
two outings she has won all 4 tests and completed qualification. As a youngster
she was quite a wild child and it has taken a lot of hard work and patience to
get this far. She is now really understanding the work and is a real pleasure to
ride and compete!

Dressage at Hickstead
Clive Pettys The B.F.G.III (Toby) and I finished 7th at the Hickstead Dressage Masters Medium Championships. For full results go to www.dressageathickstead.com. I was very pleased with Toby's performance as I have never ridden him at such a big competition with such a big atmosphere and so much going on, even helicopters taking off within metres of the arenas! I guess that is what you get at a big international show! Although Toby was a bit tense and spooky he produced some really lovely work and finished on a score of 66.91%, one judge even had us 4th!
